Violin & Viola teachers

Dmitri Berlinsky

Dmitri burst onto the international scene as the youngest winner in the history of the Paganini International Violin Competition in Genoa—a victory that allowed him the rare privilege of performing on Paganini’s own Guarneri del Gesú. He has since taken top prizes at the Tchaikovsky and Queen Elizabeth competitions and performed at major venues like Carnegie Hall. Currently, he shapes the next generation of top violinists as a Professor at Michigan State University.

Sharon Gayoung Cho

A true prodigy, Sharon began playing at age three and became the youngest student ever admitted to the University for Music in Vienna before continuing her studies at Yale and Rutgers. She has performed as a soloist across Europe and served as concertmaster for the Yale Philharmonia. Based in the NYC area, Dr. Cho is a dedicated educator, teaching violin, viola, and chamber music to students who consistently win top prizes.

Julia Meynert

Born in Germany to a musical family, Julia honed her craft in Vienna and New York City. She has performed as a substitute with the Vienna Philharmonic and regularly appears at Carnegie Hall. Beyond the concert stage, you might recognize her from the silver screen—she performed in the movie Love is Strange alongside Marisa Tomei and John Lithgow. She is currently on the faculty at the Dana Hall School of Music.

Nicholas Pappone

Nicholas has a backstory unlike any other: he started as a professional child actor in Los Angeles, and after playing a violin prodigy in a movie, he was inspired to become one in real life. Praised by Lorin Maazel as a “first-rate” violinist, he has performed with the New York Philharmonic and as a soloist with the Garden State Philharmonic. A sought-after chamber musician, he brings a unique performance perspective to his students.

Jinyoung Park Kim

Jinyoung is a dual-threat master, performing and teaching both violin and viola. After completing her studies in Vienna and earning perfect scores in Germany, she moved to the US to join the faculty at Mannes Prep. A winner of the “Joseph Rocca” violin prize, she is known for her passionate teaching style—her students regularly secure scholarships to top conservatories like Juilliard and Peabody.

Jungwon Yoon

Jungwon holds a special place in violin history as the last disciple of the legendary Dorothy DeLay at Juilliard Pre-College. She later studied with Lucie Robert and earned her Doctorate at Rutgers. Now a faculty member at MSM Precollege, she is celebrated for her empathetic teaching style and innovative approach, often encouraging students to explore new genres and even music video production alongside classical repertoire.
